John Biss was my 4x Paternal Great Grandfather on my paternal Grandmother's side. He was born 1794 in Walcot, a district of Bath, Somerset. He was the son of Joseph Biss and Betty Biss (nee Monday). He was employed as a Mason. He married on 24th December 1815 at St Swithin's Church, Walcot, Somerset. The marriage entry reads;
MARRIAGES solemnized in the Parish of Walcot in the County of Somerset in the Year 1815.
John Biss of this Parish Bachelor and Martha Browning of this Parish Spinster were married in this Church by Bannswith Consent of this Twenty Fourth Day of December in the Year One thousand eight hundred and Fifteen By me Gaius Barry Curate.

In the Presence of {X The mark of Charles Bane/MaryBane/Henry Stillman}
John Biss and Martha Biss (nee Browning) went on to have at least three children; George Biss born 21st October 1816, Matilda Biss born 21st October 1816 and James Biss born 4th March 1827.
In April 1850 he died in Avon, Somerset.
